Introducing the Rag and Bone Man
“Rag and Bone”….”Rag and Bone” came the cry across the playground at Our Lady of the Peace Primary School in Glasgow’s East End. Over the past weeks, the children of primary four and five had been industriously preparing their memories, hopes, promises and their close to forgotten objects, to give to Rag and Bone Man.
The Rag and Bone Man carefully listened to what each child had to say and gathered up their offerings into buckets on his cart. He handed out seeds for the children to plant in “a place near nowhere and close to forgotten” so that flowers will bloom at the same time as The Tin Forest comes to life.
Then after a trip to Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre in Dennistoun, Riverside Primary School in Govan, Our Lady of the Peace and Penilee Community Centre in South West, the Rag and Bone Man rattled off on his cart loaded with hopes and memories, guided by his trusty Clydesdale Horse.
