INTERNATIONAL PERFORMING COMPANY: MEET THE WORKERS
‘TIDY AWAY THE RUBBISH, SIFTING AND SORTING, BURNING AND BURYING.’
90 young people from across the Commonwealth have travelled to Glasgow to form The Tin Forest International Performing Company and bring The Tin Forest and the banks of the River Clyde to life.
The Workers are busy. They are loud. They are always ready and take pride in their work. They are shipbuilders. They are bakers, carers, weavers, farmers, teachers, soldiers, nurses. They carry tools,
torches and steel. They are the people that build the cities of The Commonwealth.
The Workers explore the struggles and pressures of what it means to be at work, and for the people behind a trade to go unnoticed. Whilst the physicality of work is demonstrated through actions and gestures, the company reach further into the personal lives of individuals and reveal snippets of their stories.
But the Workers carry on despite their struggles. They carry on working until they get the job done.
You can see all the groups perform together outside The South Rotunda on Wednesday 23rd July 2.30pm.
All International Performing Company Events are free and unticketed.
